Open all year.
Stunning location on the edge of the Highlands but just an hour's drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Everything is near at hand: activities on our 230 acre estate, castles, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National, wildlife park within 10 minutes drive. A 3,000ft mountain out the back door.
The Croft is 2 miles from the village and away from the road, so its an ideal venue for keeping kids safe.
The Croft is a former farmstead converted to offer 4* hostel accommodation and tent camping. Exclusive use of the hostel is available for groups at special rates. We have two self-contained units sleeping 56 (the lodge) and/or 14 (the farmhouse), set around a courtyard and barbeque, with a barn for indoor games, a games room with pool and tabel-tennis, and a playing field. A seperate barn conversion also houses a purpose built meeting/function/classroom. Our estate is available for your use and has walking and dedicated mountain bike trails (& bike hire), an orienteering course, and woods, meadows and a mill pond.
The large lodge building is mostly wheel-chair accessible on the ground floor. There is a specially designed wetroom and accessible toilets.
Catering can be provided by our partners in the village. We provide a self-service Scottish breakfast for £3pp.
Both kitchens are attractive and spacious. The lodge kitchen in particular is well equipped for group catering.
The lodge dining area is attached to the kitchen and has enough space to seat a full house. It looks out on one side to the courtyard - where picnic tables are set out for eating in good weather - and to the mountains on the other side. The farmhouse has an attractive dining kitchen, which also seats a full house (14).
Of the 11 bedrooms in the lodge, 6 are ensuite. The farmhouse has 3 bedrooms. Room plans can be downloaded from the Comrie Croft website. There are some twin rooms for group leaders. Rooms vary in size from 2-8 people, mostly on sturdy homemade wooden bunkbeds with excellent hotel quality mattresses.
Freshly laundered bed linen is provided. We ask for beds to be made up by each guest and stripped at the end of your stay. Please bring your own shower towels.
Some are ensuite. There is a good ratio of shower-rooms to beds (1:5). All offer a powerful, 'always hot' shower.
The lodge has two comfy sitting areas, each seating about 12 people. The farmhouse has a small sitting room sitting 4. Books, movies and board games are provided.
A large multi-purpose meeting room is available. It can be set up with straight-back seating as a class-room, meeting room, theatre, etc. Used for a small dance or party, or with comfy sofas and floor cushions for a movie night (you bring the projector!)
Our games room has a pool table and table tennis. We've also got a big covered barn with facilities for basketball, football, and volleyball, plus an outdoor playing field.
We have a PA system that you can use for free. We may get a projector soon - so just ask if you want to hire one from us.
Both units have TVs, DVD players and stereos.
Free internet on our internet station (24 hr access) and free wifi.
Full central heating in the lodge. Electric storage heating in the farmhouse. Both buildings are well insulated and double glazed making them nice and cosy. No extra cost.
Playing field, walks, mountain bike trails, bikes for hire. You are welcome to make use of our estate.
Plentiful free parking. Room for a coach.
We can organise a full activity programme with our partners at Biggar Adventure, including abseiling, raft-building, team-building and problem solving games, canoeing, mountain biking, archery, etc. It's also possible to pick and choose activities as this is the best area for adventure activities in the UK: everything from scenic bungee, white-water rafting, to beginners golf. Just ask if there is something you particularly want to include.
