Trip for children with Special Needs to London.

by Michael on 10th November 2008
Department:
Citizenship
Year Group:
Year 10
Venue Region:
London
Town:
London
Summary:
London is unmissable. It never sleeps, students love the shops, famous people spotting, travel, famous sights and the whole big city atmosphere. You should go nowhere with students until you have been to our fair capital city!
Venue: LONDON
Accommodation: ST PAULS YOUTH HOSTEL
A clean, friendly and easily accessible youth hostel that gives good accommodation in an easily accessible part of London in terms of tubes and buses. Breakfast was adequate and the rooms clean and tidy.
Benefit:
The aim of this trip was to introduce students to London and in particular the workings of The Houses of Parliament. It also gave special needs students experiences of using trains, tubes, buses and taxis as well as navigating themselves around London.
Plus points:
London Dungeons - a scream! Ring in advance and book discounted tickets - really fun time for students aged 11 - 16!
Blood Brothers - a great paly to see - action packed, fun and realistic for students today!
Big Ben - well worth the walk to the top - book early and enjoy a unique view of London.
Minus points:
Watch out when travelling by tubes - split your party up and keep an eye on who's looking after who!
Public Loos - make sure you've got spare change available for the loos and they are expensive!
Overall:
