Visit to Glasgow University - Science. For whole school (42 pupils)

Summary:

Whole school visit- P1-7. Staff from the University met our coach. We were gathered together and given instructions for the day then spit into lower class and upper class groups with differentiated activities. Pupils had time to run about and have a snack in the beautiful university quadrangle before visiting the University museum with quiz sheets provided. After lunch in the grounds, pupils attended an interactive bionic ear workshop then an active learning drama workshop. Before heading back pupils enjoyed a visit to the zoology department. As well as the science element to the trip, the children had a chance to see a 'real' university. We walked down the stairs of the university with a whole hall of second year medicine students who had just come out of an exam. There was a real buzz and our pupils were excited by the whole university experience.

Plus points:

Well organised. Differentiated. Varied activities. Well suited to Curriculum for Excellence and careers education/PSE. Beautiful premises. Fantastic museum - not too big for Primary pupils & clearly set out. (not boring!) Staff were great. Shop available if that's a must though we didn't bother. A chance for primary pupils to have a taste/glimpse of university life.
Trip was even Free!!!!
