What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Pro-Active Adventure have developed learning programmes that meet several requirements of the National Curriculum, a visit to Tyn Dwr will provide your pupils with a new learning environment that is exciting, challenging and fun.

Most of our activities satisfy or can be linked to the ‘Learning outside the classroom’ criteria. Pupils will have opportunities to extend their horizons, build their confidence and self-esteem, and develop independence by trying educational activities in a safe, secure environment. We have found time and time again that a residential experience at Tyn Dwr promotes a sense of citizenship and often brings a class and its teacher closer together.

All our instructors hold multiple National Governing Body Awards (NGBs). They also have at least three years post qualifying experience. We do not recruit newly qualified instructors each season like many other centres do. All staff at Tyn Dwr and Tywyn, our coastal centre, also hold an enhanced CRB check to work with children. The team have undergone special training in subjects such as child development and child protection.

The combination of tailored outdoor education, quality and mix of accommodation, and range of facilities set in an historic background supported by the University of Central Lancashire means that all schools can be assured of a quality learning and visit experience.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Pro-Active Adventure is renowned to provide innovative and creative education programmes. We have employed outdoor education in some innovative research unparalleled by other organisations.

Utilising the very latest equipment & methodologies for the delivery of our programmes we work closely with our teachers, teams and education consultants to ensure the educational benefits of each course we deliver.

Pro-Active Adventure instructors are highly qualified and experienced in all aspects of the learning programs undertaken.

What are the activities?

Sample programme of the activities:

All aspects of the delivery of adventure and outdoor education are looked at, and we ensure that the national curriculum is linked to the activities that we provide through Proactive Adventure. We concentrate on the development of the young people and we construct our activities depending on the group(s) needs.

When Pro-Active Adventure were awarded the 'Quality' badge for Learning Outside the Classroom, what impressed the inspectors was the level of consultation we had with the teachers before the students residential, and then our approach to the visit when the school were on site.

We are confident that we can deliver a programme of activities around what you require.

As a minimum we recommend we recommend that each pupil bring with them:

1 Thick pullover and 1 lighter one.

Is specific clothing required?

Clothing and shoes worn outside during activities will inevitably get dirty, so old clothes should be worn during activities. Obviously it’s fine to get changed into something better in the evening. We try to help children look after their things, but items regularly get lost or left behind so it’s a good idea if each child has a packing list so that they can check items back into their bag when its time to go home
