Wild Workshops is a venture started by a science subject leader with a passion for nature. Sessions bring local garden animals (and lots of equipment) into the classroom for a truly hands-on practical experience. These vibrant sessions boost pupils’ learning and encourage investigation with some spectacular audio-visual aids. Have you ever seen a 3 foot woodlouse or heard a mouse’s ultrasonic ‘squeak’?
These sessions can be used to enhance any ‘natural world’
class topic such as: Similarities and differences among living
things, Plants and animals in the local environment, Variation,
Moving and growing, Habitats and Life cycles. A real must for
Science week!
Wild Workshops help children to understand the wildlife that
lives all around them. Allowing the children to work in small
groups with live animals, empowers them and they become
motivated to develop their own investigative skills. Can a
mouse learn the correct route through a maze? Why do some
creatures look for light and some shy away?
Sessions can be differentiated from Nursery to Y8.
All equipment is provided.
A maximum group size of 35 per session is recommended so that smaller groups get the most out of the practical hands-on elements.
A risk assessment policy is available for perusal on the day (or can be forwarded to you at your convenience.
