We offer fun and informative days out for schools. Focusing on Victorian and Second World war subjects offered in costumed roleplay activities alongside object handling and DT activities. Accessible and with toilets and lunch facilities for schools. Set in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside. Can tailor make session to suit your groups requirements.

Roleplay activities, music and dance (Tudor/Medieval), object handling sessions and related design & technology activities.
KS1, 2 & 3 and session can be tailor made for older groups.

Victorian Schoolroom
Suitable for Key Stages 1 & 2
The schoolroom at Hartlebury has been created for children to experience a day in the life of a Victorian schoolchild. Our School Ma’am Miss Proper will lead the activities and will be on hand to receive your class for a morning or afternoon's instruction.
To add to your day we request that all children are to arrive suitably attired. The room is equipped with desks, slate and slate pencils, punishments and a teacher's desk to give a real flavour of the period.
The children will follow a lesson of instruction given by Miss Proper and children will have the opportunity to write on slates, try the punishments (finger stocks, back-straighteners etc) and wear some Victorian costume (smocks for girls and sailor collars for boys).

Pre-visit information, museum trail. They need not bring anything but we ask them to dress in appropriate costume for some sessions (Victorian/Second World War)

We also have a large schools laons section whereby schools may borrow themed boxes of objects for half or whole term durations. Small costs apply.
Alongside the formal onsite programme we all offer a full outreach service and a Mobile Museum, a bus that can bring museum exhibits to you!
As part of the Local Authority we have full health & safety policies and all activities ar risk assessed. We encourage teachers to come along on a free familiarisation visit to complete their own assessments of our site and to speak to staff prior to their visit.
